Ranking the Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies

With Avengers: Endgame about to happen and serve as a conclusion to the incredibly long story arc around the threat of Thanos, I thought I would celebrate by ranking all the Marvel movies in the MCU up til now.

My goal is to do this is two ways: I want to group them into 4 tiers: First Tier (Amazing), Second Tier (Enjoyed), Third Tier (Okay), Fourth Tier (Reluctant / Disappointed). I also want to actually just rank them within their tiers/the entire order.

It’s been a long time since I have watched some of these movies, so it might be a bit affected by memory, and at some point I should probably do a watch through of all the movies and rank them at the end of each movie, so it would be more fresh. But for now, here it is:

First Tier

  1. Captain Marvel
  2. Avengers: Infinity War
  3. Spider-Man: Homecoming
  4. Captain America: Civil War

Second Tier

  1. Doctor Strange
  2. Thor: Ragnarok
  3. Black Panther
  4. Ant-Man
  5. The Avengers
  6. Iron Man
  7. Thor
  8. Captain America: The First Avenger
  9. Iron Man 3

Third Tier

  1. Iron Man 2
  2. Avengers: Age of Ultron
  3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
  4. Thor: The Dark World

Fourth Tier

  1. The Incredible Hulk
  2. Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 1
  3. Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2

Unranked

I have yet to watch both Ant-Man and the Wasp and Avengers: Endgame. I will update this post after I watch Ant-Man and the Wasp, as well as Avengers: Endgame… my current prediction is that Ant-Man and the Wasp will be in the Second Tier and Avengers: Endgame will be in the First Tier.

How do you rank the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies?

UPDATE: After more consideration, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 of Guardians of the Galaxy have been swapped putting Vol. 1 above Vol. 2.
