I look at that a couple of ways. In regards GDPR it’s about businesses not individuals and personal communications. Ethically I also have no problems. I only receive a webmention if someone links to my personal website. In my opinion, as soon as you link to me on the internet, you are exchanging personal communication. No one can tell me what text messages, emails or letters to delete. The difference is often times Webmentions are public, thus if someone sends a webmention delete I set it to private so that it remains personal rather than public, like an email.
