I think one major thing that is different is the ability to follow your timeline in an RSS reader. Obviously that doesn’t change the amount of posts, but it’s easier to be able to read the whole thing over time and catch up, rather than it just falling of the grid. I also think not having “click to repost” or showing public likes helps make the entire timeline valuable in ways that Twitters hasn’t been in a LONG time.
