This article about attempting to make a livable income on Patreon is very interesting. It lists a lot of reasons why earning a living on patreon (and other independent platforms) is so challenging. We always hear success stories about start ups and independent creators, but the success stories are rare and it is not easy to earn a living independent of employment. I’ve always thought the idea sounded good but I’ve never found a better solution this far other than working remotely at a good company. So far that is the best balance of work and life that I’ve found.
